Namibian film, Hairareb continues to bag accolades on the international scene with the latest being Best Movie award.
The award was awarded to executive producer, Dantagos Jimmy Melani at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) in Lagos, Nigeria, over the weekend. Hairareb was also selected for screening at the 30th Annual Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) and their nomination for Best Feature Narrative in April. Hairareb has already garnered a number of accolades, including Best Narrative Film, Best Director and the Best Male Actor Award for the late veteran actor David Ndjavera at the Namibian Theatre and Film Awards. Hairareb has also featured in the European Film Festival and the Durban International Film Festival. Hairareb is based on a book by August Bikeur previously performed as a radio play in the Damara-Nama language, and later developed into a script by Aina Ligola Kwedhi. Funded by the Namibia Film Commission, the film is executively produced by Dantagos Jimmy-Melani, with Ellen Ernst as producer, and award winner, Oshoveli Shipoh, as director.
